HOW TO SAY THANK YOU IN KOREAN?
So I say 고마워.And remember,Even if the person is so close emotionally to me,
I should say 고마워요 if he or she is older than meOr someone I should respect! So if I say 고마워 to my parents,I'm a really rude person.
So if I have a friend who is about 5 years older than me,Even if I'm emotionally close to that friend,고마워요 is a better expression than 고마워!Of course, if he or she doesn't think it's a problemAnd doesn't care much about it, I can say 고마워!
And next one is 감사해요.
Just think of "감사해요" as almost "고마워요"!But 감사해요 is a little more polite expression!Except for that, there's really no big difference between them.
Next one is 고맙습니다.
In what case do you think this is used?고맙습니다 is a polite expression to people we don't knowOr see for the first timeOr people who aren't emotionally close to us!
When we go to a restaurantAnd the server brings delicious food to our table! Then We can say 고맙습니다.Or you can say 고맙습니다
When you accidentally dropped your walletWhile walking on the street
And someone picked it up for you!Lastly, 감사합니다 is the most courteous expression of the five!
고맙습니다 and 감사합니다 are almost the same. But 감사합니다 is a little more polite expression! So like I just said, if you dropped your wallet by mistakeAnd it was your precious wallet,Then you can say 감사합니다 to the person!
In my case, I use 고마워 and 감사합니다 the most out of these five.Because even if we know only these two things,It's enough to say thank you to everyone in Korea.
